Who we are and why we're doing this...
The Partnership Park Downtown Neighborhood Association offers a community gardens program. We have two gardens in Partnership Park: the Barham Garden at 711 S. Mechanic St. and the Zion Garden at 224 Wilkins St. near the Make a Difference House. We invite you to participate in these initiatives.
We have monthly meetings at St. John’s and in the Garden when the weather permits – please check the PPDNA calendar for these meetings.
We participate as a committee of the Partnership Park Downtown Neighborhood which meets the first Tuesday of every month at St. John’s United Church of Christ at 4:30 p.m. at 801 S. Mechanic St. We meet the 2nd Monday of the month at the Together We Can Make a Difference House (224 Wilkins) at 10 am as a part of the Jackson Community Gardens Committee.
The Gardens offer many benefits for people in the Partnership Park Neighborhood and other neighborhoods as we expand:
- Community Gardens offer food for those who garden
- Community gardens beautify the areas they are in
- Community Gardens help to reclaim areas and revitalize neighborhoods
- Community Gardens provide an opportunity for youth to understand where their food comes from
